the side that goes thru your ear is extremely thin - zero pain. AND the front of the metal is thicker and looks beautiful. I switched out these for other earrings.

These are by far the best hoops I've come across. They are much more sturdy & they do not fade nor chip nor tarnish. The 18k plating really makes a huge difference.
